The primary paper for this week is Dalal S and Gupta MN (2010) Purification and characterization of a peroxidase isozyme from Indian turnip roots J Agric Food Chem 58 5545–52. This paper has been selected, not for its wealth of understanding, but as an example of a paper which details a novel purification of peroxidase. The key element to learn from this paper is not the unique work presented, but the common elements to all papers which report the purification and characterization of a "new" enzyme. In the end, then, we are looking at a single example of the type of work which unifies all of biochemistry. The science which explains the common chemical connection between all organisms. Again the theme is to prepare a summary of the work in a paragraph of no more than two hundred fifty words. Think about the large question, the system used, the methods of purification and the characteristics of the purified protein.

While not part of this assignment in particular, do pay attention for ideas and themes that you might use for your final paper, one small aspect of a study like this.
